For those who know and love Alissa, summer just wouldn’t be the same without her birthday party! Every year is a different theme, and every year the party seems to get bigger and better! This year was no exception, with a Harry Potter theme! Everyone dressed up as different characters….wizards, witches, professors, dementors, a house elf, owls and muggles! Step through Platform 9 3/4, and into the mystical world of magic! Upon entering, everyone is sorted into their proper Houses, and greeted with cold butter beer and treats to eat. Grab a quill and your copy of The Marauder’s Map to cross off hidden Harry Potter treasures as you look for them on your scavenger hunt! But keep your guard up! There are all sorts of dangerous creatures! From dragons, to spiders, and even giants!
School is also in session at the party. Grab your books and visit each class to complete every assignment given. Mix concoctions at your Potions class, learn to “transform” with temporary tattoos, study the mandrakes in Herbology, and don’t forget to stop by for a quick lesson on Quidditch!
Finish off the night with a ride in the Weasley family car around the Whomping Willow, and a Harry Potter cookie!
**Warning: there are A LOT of photos! I couldn’t narrow them down! Enjoy!
Not too long ago I had the pleasure of documenting the Baptism of my handsome nephew Steven. Being raised in an LDS household, I’ve never had the opportunity to witness an infant baptism. I have to say, it was very beautiful! I was touched by the love that was felt for this sweet boy by everyone who was there to witness such a special moment. Ven is lucky to be surrounded by so many who love him! And I am definitely a lucky aunt!
This past spring I got together with Elise and Melanie for a little spring bridal inspiration shoot. They are so gorgeous! I honestly could have photographed them all day.
The inspiration came from the beautiful lilac bushes I have in my backyard. They are by far my favorite spring flower. I think that is mostly because they remind me of my sweet grandmother. (and they smell DIVINE!) I wanted the photos to have a slight retro feel, so I threw in some polka dots. Also, Elise brought real vintage pieces with the ring and shawl that belonged to her grandmother. For a modern pop of color let’s add an amazing shock of red! Those tights kill me! (oh and in case anyone is wondering, the bouquets and skirt were made by me)
This one below is my absolute favorite!
Happy Summer! My favorite part of summer has got to be all of the parties! Everyone seems to want to spend more time with one another. Whether it be with a warm campfire and gooey marshmallows, or laying on weathered blankets while star gazing. So what better way to kick off summer than with a sweet birthday party, Harry Potter style!
This party was so much fun! There were little witches and wizards running around everywhere! They were making Troll boogers and potions using bone dust at #12 Grimald Place, and transfiguring using face paint! White owls were flying overhead, watching a game of qudditch, a balloon toss turned to water fight, and bubble popping with wands! There was a magical snitch cake, color changing butter beer, and sweet treats from the snack cart. The party finished off with a search for the illusive snitch, and fun presents.
